Souhegan Harmony is an intermediate/advanced mixed instrument ensemble lead by cellist Andrew Koutroubas and other visiting artists. Souhegan Harmony explores a variety of musical repertory from antiquity to the modern era. Students will gain experience playing with others in a mixed instrument ensemble, and will receive training in musicianship skills including music literacy, music theory, music history, sight reading, listening skills, while honing their technical abilities. The ensemble presents one public concert performance each semester.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to all meetings to ensure we can begin on time. Please notify the instructor if something comes up and you are unable to attend a meeting. Your prior notice of at least 24 hours is most appreciated.
Hard copies of music, scales, and other learning material will be provided by Instructor Andrew Koutroubas. Digital copies of all learning material will be made available electronically via google drive.
It is expected that students will commit to practicing every day, or as close to everyday as possible, for at least 30 minutes. Not only is this critical to the progression and success of the class objectives, it is how your child will get the most out of this weekly class commitment. Gentle practice reminders are encouraged while coercion and force is not.
